Revealed Mitsubishi Triton with all-new diesel engine

Mitsubishi Triton also known as L200 will be produced in Mitsubishi’s plant in Thailand. Fifth generation of the popular model will premierely be launched later on this month, while Japanese producer already released photos and base specs of the model. New Triton will have its official release at the 2014 Bangkok International Motor Show.

Mitsubishi didn’t give up on traditional look of the Triton pick-up, in fact, its new generation shows the design direction common for this type of Mitsubishi vehicles. Front end of the vehicle is completely redesigned, with conspicuous front grill and fascia, incorporated with LED headlights. Interior is more luxurious than before. Mitsubishi Triton now offers leather upholstery, black gloss and metallic accents, as well as upgraded version of its infotainment system. Beside better materials and features, overall comfort is further upgraded with differently designed seats which offer more comfort for the passengers.

Mitsubishi Triton Rear

Performance of the new Triton is based on four different power units. In its engine range it offers a 2.4-liter petrol unit (128 hp and 143 lb-ft of torque), as well as MIVEC turbo-diesel with same displacement (good for 181 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque). Beside these two, Mitsubishi Triton also offers another turbo-diesel – 2.5-liter with two different outputs. One is with 128 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, and other with 178 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Five-speed and six-speed manual transmissions are standard depending on engine choice, while five-speed automatic is optional.
