Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid sold out!

From German automobile manufacturer came one interesting release. The Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid has sold out all planned copies of this magnificent supercar. The limited edition was produced in only 918 (symbolically) copies, and had a price tag of $845,000. As Porsche reports the majority of its 918 Spyder Hybrid vehicles, total of 297, ended in the US, while China and Germany are following it with 100 copies.

Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid combines the 4.6-liter V8 engine with two electric motors placed on the front and rear end. This configuration enabled it combined output of 874 horsepower. Its acceleration time (from 0 to 60) is 2,6 seconds, and top speed 215 mph. 918 Spyder, however, was the last one, out of powerful plug-in trio, that was sold out. LaFerrari plug-in hybrid was sold out practically immediately, as well as McLaren’s P1. To be completely honest, both these vehicles had less copes to sell than popular Spyder. LaFerrari was produced in 499 copies and P1 in 375.

This sale’s boost instigated Porsche officials to think about the future successor of the legendary Spyder, and to include more hybrid variants into its offer. Next-in-line for a hybrid variant could be Porsche Boxster or Porsche 911, which would be great to see. Currently, in we left out Porsche 918 Spyder, German car producer offers only two hybrids: Panamera and Cayenne.
