First 2016 Cadillac CT6 goes to charity

General Motors decided to make a great thing with its first production model of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 model. Popular sedan’s first copy ever produced will be sold at an auction at the 13th Annual Palm Beach Auction in Palm Beach. Auction’s host will be the Barrett-Jackson auction house. The money raised from this auction sale of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be donated to Karmanos Cancer Institute.

This great tradition started few years ago, when GM decided to do the same with the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. However the receiver of this donation, the Karmanos Institute was supported by GM on various occasions in the past. This year only, GM Foundation donated half a million dollars for cancer research, and thanks to GM donations throughout the years the entire laboratory floor on the Karmanos Cancer Institute carries the name of GM Foundation.

The auction winner will have various options enabled exclusively to him. Buyer of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will get certificate of authenticity, color choice and the model will be delivered by no other than Ed Welburn, vice president of Global Design (GM Design studio).

The auction started last night (April 17th) at 19.00pm and first 2016 Cadillac CT6 was sold for $200,000 to dealer David Flynn from Columbiana, Ohio. The raised money will be used for expansion of Karmanos’ Intensive Care Unit. The goal is to develop a 24-hour Acute Care Clinic. GM also donated their special-built 2015 Chevrolet Camaro COPO, and money raised from its sales will be donated to the Achilles Freedom Team.

For those who are wondering the Karmanos Cancer Institute is s among the nation’s best cancer centers, dedicated to research, patient care and education. It takes care of more than 6,000 new patients per year, and it conducts more than 700 cancer-specific programs and clinical trials.

Achilles International is non-profit organization which encourages disabled people to participate in mainstream athletics.  Achilles Freedom Team program is created in order to bring running programs and marathon opportunities for disabled veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
