2016 Volkswagen Tiguan

German producer prepared redesign for its 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan. New model year will bring improvements in couple of segments. Market demand for bigger size vehicles forced many producers of the mid-size SUV to take it a step further and offer more comfort and third seat row. Volkswagen of America’s general manager for product planning, Kevin Joostema, said that Tiguan’s competitors are winning the battle due to the fact that they offer more cargo space and better fuel economy at lower price. Upcoming 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan will bring enhancements in all these segments.

VW’s officials are focused on delivering functionality and design for its latest generation Tiguan. Primary goal for Volkswagen’s engineers and designers was to make new Tiguan as spacious and versatile as possible.

Interior of the 2016 VW Tiguan also brings a lot of changes. Recently Tiguan was spotted on the streets wearing body of a current-generation Tiguan as a disguise. As noticeable form those pictures, new Tiguan will have new instrument cluster as well as new steering wheel.  It is still unclear, though, whether new Tiguan will have VW’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, or the VW will opt for cheaper, more conventional version. The other option is more in compliance with VW’s plan for 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan price decrease.

When it comes to performance, 2016 Tiguan main issue is related to fuel consumption. In this purpose, Germans could introduce the diesel variant for the first time, when ti comes to North American market.

Both 1.8- or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines are in game. Current Tiguan is run by a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which produces 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. This engine could remain the base one for 2016 model year, while the transmission choices could be different. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, which are found for the current version, could be changed with some of gearboxes from VW’s latest generation.

There is no reliable info which technologies will be available, nor the right engine choices, but VW’s officials promised better fuel economy for this generation and we believe them. As soon as we get reliable info about performance and fuel economy of 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan we will share this info with you.
