2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI gets its facelift

Last model year, 2015, brought some significant upgrades for VW’s compact sedan. Model went through its mid-cycle facelift, and came refreshed and ready for new sales records. However, popular German brand didn’t reveal full line-up of the model. Its sporty Jetta GLI version was left out and saved for its 2016 model year debut. 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI adopts some aggressive styling cues.

Starting from the front end, its new honeycomb grille is paired with new set of fog lights. Moving to its rear end, new diffuser and a pair of chrome-plated exhaust tips add to its fresh appearance. But 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI didn’t receive only styling alterations. Its engine is also new for this model year. New Jetta GLI now comes packed with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable to deliver 210 horsepower. Transmission options are either 6-speed manual (standard) or 6-speed DSG dual-clutch (optional). The models also received other performance upgrades, beside engine. Those include sports-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI gets new infotainment system which offers extra connectivity options. Standard equipment includes keyless access and push-button start, two-zone A/C, a sunroof, a rearview camera, parking sensors, a Fender sound system and Automatic Post-Collision Braking system.

New sand changes added for new model year will definitely cause some price increase. However, it is not expected to be anything major. New price of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI should start slightly over $28,000. Precise pricing specs will be revealed closer to its release date, which is expected later this year.
