2016 Toyota Sequoia

2016 Toyota Sequoia will not be changed essentially, at least the information that is available doesn’t imply so. This large, truck-based SUV offers a lot of conveniences, but it also has couple of downsides, which are mainly related to its fuel economy. Exterior look of the 2016 Toyota Sequoia is traditional and rugged, which separates it from the rest of SUVs in its range.  Although Toyota announced the end of Sequoia’s production, Japanese giant changed its decision and continued to offer this model. Currently into its second generation, Sequoia doesn’t give the results which are expected.

2016 Toyota Sequoia news and features

2016 Toyota Sequoia will mark either new generation or the end of an era. Sales statistics of this model is pretty bad, and even though Toyota constantly works on improvements, this last few years didn’t gave expected results. Its sale started t o spin downwards just one year after its big redesign back in 2008, although Toyota officials hoped that they will reach sale numbers from the beginning of first generation.

New Sequoia comes available in three trims, including SR5, Limited and Platinum. The biggest advantages of this model are its interior and functionally. It offers enough room to accommodate up to eight passengers, with enough space for each one of them. 2016 Toyota Sequoia offers 120 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all seats folded down. Second row seats have 40/20/40 split-fold design and ability to slide in order to provide easier access to third row, which has 60/40 split-fold option. This full size SUV offers numerous features, even for base trim SR5. Some of those features are Entune multimedia system with HR 6.1-inch touchscreen, HD radio, HD Traffic and Weather, SiriusXM All Access Radio, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat; 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, Urethane tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls and much more. Upper trims of 2016 Toyota Sequoia offer rear-seat Blu-ray Disc player with 9-inch display, which is a great addition for long trips.

2016 Toyota Sequoia engine specs

2016 Toyota Sequoia carries on the powertrain from its predecessor. It comes available with only one engine – 5.7-liter V8. It provides 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, and it has towing capacity up to 7,400 pounds. The V8 is mated to a 6-speed automatic, which is the only option. However Toyota offers both rear- and all-wheel drive for its latest Sequoia.

Fuel economy rates do not move, but we strongly believe that Toyota will do something with it. Current Sequoia’s fuel economy is rated at 13/17 mpg city/hwy, which is not very tempting.

For people who need a strong car, with latest modern technologies, and who love the rugged looks of an SUV, 2016 Toyota Sequoia is the right choice. For those who mind the mpg numbers, and are not fans of the features Toyota offers, they can look for Sequoia’s rivals, such as Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and GMC Yukon.

2016 Toyota Sequoia price and release

We do not expect 2016 Toyota Sequoia to appear on the market before second half of 2015, most likely during the fall. Price should remain in the same range, which means it will vary from $45,000 to $62,000.
