2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Toyota Land Cruiser is Toyota’s series of vehicles with longest history, which starts in 1951. It consists of on- and off-road oriented vehicles. 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado belongs to off-road oriented category, and it offers numerous options for best possible drive experience. Just recently Toyota did a facelift for the Prado, so new model year will not bring any extensive changes for the smallest SUV in the Land Cruiser range.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado features and trims

Rugged appearance of the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is greatly styled with some chrome details, and big wheel arches. Front grill is either blacked-out or chromed, depending on trim you opt for. It comes available in four trim levels, 7 exterior colors and three interior color schemes. Four Prado trims include GX, GXL, VX and Kakadu. All trims are highly equipped.

Base GX comes packed up with 17-inches alloy wheels, 7 airbags, halogen headlights, smart key start and access, backup camera, LCD touchscreen connected to a sound system with CD player, AM/FM radio, and MP3 player. Additionally it also offers Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) for improved handling and maneuverability.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado trims also come with different engines, which are conditioned with trim choice. The biggest news, however, is the production of a hybrid variant which will be launched for this model year.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado engine range

Engine options are the same as before when it comes to 2016 Prado. Base engine is still a 3.0-liter Turbo Diesel engine, capable to deliver up to 170 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be mated with either 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Second engine available under the hood of 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is a 4.0-liter VVT-i  Petrol V6 with an output of 270 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque and mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

We have to specify that these information are still not confirmed, but are based on facts. Toyota’s officials stated that Land Cruiser Prado redesign is planned for 2017 model year. However, if some info about that changes, we will inform you about it. Further down the line, as we approach to its release, some planes will be clearer and we will be able to provide full specs on the latest Prado.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado competition

As one of the SUVs that competes in mid-size category, 2016 Prado will have tough and many rivals. Its relatively closest opponents are Jeep Wrangler, Nissan Pathfinder and both Mitsubishi Pajero and Challenger. Looking from economical point of view, 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is not the best solution. Even if we take into account the higher level of luxury that this model delivers, its base price is bigger than most of its competitors.

2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado price & release

Prado’s previous base price started at $56,000 and went close to $95,000 which is pretty big, considering the starting prices of its rivals. We do not expect price increase in 2016 model year, or some minimal one, but 2017 redesign could bring price boost, among others. This SUV will be released late next year.
