2016 Subaru Forester

2016 Subaru Forester brings small alterations, while the big redesigned is planned for 2017MY according to business plan of the company. Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru’s parent company, recently revealed their 5-year plan for future Subaru vehicles. The plan is called “Prominence 2020” and it revealed some interesting announcements which include 20 percent sales increase up to 2020, a new platform on which Subaru planes to build all its vehicles, and more fuel-efficient engines. This plan indicates when we can expect redesigns of Subaru’s models.

2016 Subaru Forester changes and features

Forester was recently redesigned, for 2014 model year, and two years that follow don’t bring anything major. However, it looks like Subaru planes to make a big redesign in 2017, for both Outback and Forester, which will include change of platform, too. Although there is only few information regarding 2016 Subaru Forester, based on some sources new SUV could get reinforcement in performance area. Other than that new model year will bring only couple of styling cues, to refresh the model, since its “real” redesign is a year ahead.

2016 Subaru Forester will not suffer any trim changes, for sure, and will still be available in 6 variants, which include 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 2.0XT Premium and 2.0XT Touring. List of standards for base trim includes 17-inch steel wheels, full power accessories, a height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity (phone and audio), a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, multifunction display, a backup camera and sound system with 4 speakers, CD player, AUX port and iPod/USB connectivity.

2016 Subaru Forester performance and mpg

News for 2016 model year could be addition of a 1.6L turbocharged flat-4 engine with 168 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Subaru names its trim levels by the engine they carry, so if the rumors are true, and 2016 Subaru Forester comes with this engine, it will also affect the nameplates of trims, and cause some shuffling.

If Subaru decide not to bring changes under the hood for upcoming model year standard engine will remain a 2.5-liter inline-4 that generates 170 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes paired with either 6-speed manual transmission (which is standard for lower trims) or CVT (optional on base, and standard on upper trims). With manual transmission 2016 forester will be able to deliver 24 mpg combined (22 city/29 highway), and with CVT 24mpg city/32mpg highway/27mpg combined.

Turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, optional on lower, and standard on upper trims, cranks out 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes exclusively with a CVT. Its fuel economy is rated at 23 mpg city/28 mpg highway/25 mpg combined.

2016 Subaru Forester Side

2016 Subaru Forester competition

2016 Subaru Forester will compete against Nissan Rogue and Honda’s CR-V as the closest rivals. Nissan recently redesigned its Rogue, and it now offers large cargo space, good fuel economy and nicely arranged infotainment controls. Honda’s CR-V has also a lot of space but experts bragged its performance too.

2016 Subaru Forester price and release

Subaru still hasn’t revealed price or release details, but we believe it won’t feature any major boost. It will stay in expected range, and it shouldn’t go beyond $35 000 which could be starting price for top-line trims. However, the base model shouldn’t have price tag higher than $22 000. Release of the 2016 Subaru Forester should be early on 2015, or by the middle of that year.

    • admin says:

Hardly, since Subaru plans major redesign for its Forester in 2017, according to our sources So rear A/C is more likely to be installed then, rather than for 2016MY.
