2016 Nissan Maxima

Nissan presented its Sport Sedan concept at this year Detroit Auto Show, and we had a chance to look what we can expect from the 2016 Nissan Maxima. The exterior of the all new Maxima will be practically the same as the Sport Sedan concept. Big redesign will mark the beginning of the ninth generation, which will start with production in 2015 and be released as a 2016 Nissan Maxima.

Latest Maxima will be bigger than before, with few inches added on its length and width. Height remains the same. Roof design gives the coupe-like look to 2016 Nissan Maxima, with its floating style achieved with a blacked out pillars. Sharp edges and body lines make it appeal more aggressive and sportier. It features big, 21-inch set of wheel with specially designed rims. Front end of the 2016 Nissan Maxima is designed in recognizable Nissan’s design language. Grill is shaped in form of a “V” letter and combined with boomerang-shaped headlights.

Exact info about interior of the 2016 Nissan Maxima is not known yet, but there are some indications about what we can expect from it. Nissan decided to make a big difference, and if you are excited with its exterior wait until you see its inside. Focused on premium materials new Maxima interior will be equipped in full luxury. Quilted leather seats, metallic trim and high-contrast color palette are some of the announced changes on the inside. This bold and expensive look and feel will be additionally complemented with high-level features, both standard and optional.

Performance will not fall behind the look of the 2016 Nissan Maxima. Nissan’s familiar 3.5-liter V6 will still empower the Maxima sedan. Its output is rated at 325 horsepower and 298 lb-ft of torque, and comes combined with a CVT. Although unconfirmed, some data initiate that Nissan could include another transmission option, either manual or DCT. Front wheel drive will be standard option, while we believe that Nissan will incorporate all-wheel drive as optional.

2016 Nissan Maxima acceleration time is 5.5 seconds (from zero to 60), while its top speed is 137 mph. Fuel economy ratings are not available yet, but we believe that Japanese manufacturer will make some enhancements in that department compared to last year 21/29/24 mpg (city/hwy/combined) ratings.

Nissan Maxima positioned itself high on the sedans scale. Its quality made some experts to put it in the same rang with BMW and Audi. However the closest rivals of this great sedan are Acura TL, which won the battle in features, which will be changed with new Maxima, we believe. Other tough competitor is Audi A4 with higher price, but also with sportier handling than the 2016 Nissan Maxima. Chrysler 300, Volkswagen CC and Hyundai Azera are also tough runners in this race for customers. On the other hand, some famous car critics claim that the biggest competitor for Maxima comes from the same manufacturer, referring to Nissan Altima.

Although it is still early for prognoses, and price spec are not published, nor is its release we will try to give you the closest judgment possible. Its release will probably be during the first half next year, while its sale is not expected to start before fall 2015. 2016 Nissan Maxima price will start around $31,000 – $32,000, which is not big increase compared to the price of the previous model. However we will inform you about all latest changes regarding this model as soon as Nissan officials confirm some info or release it, so stay tuned!
