2016 Mazda 6

2016 Mazda 6 will not receive extensive makeover, but will feature some significant changes. Majority of those alterations will be made on interior, while the exterior will mainly be refreshed. The beginning of this, third, generation, was back in 2012, and its look is still fresh and modern. Many car experts rated this model as of the best-looking ones on the market, and we must agree with those rates.

As we already mentioned, new Mazda 6 will mainly receive interior upgrades. Its infotainment system is replaced, which is a big deal. Dashboard design will be brand new, which would additionally accentuate the infotainment upgrade. The touchscreen will be placed on the top, instead on the center of the dash, which allowed the designers to place the board lower. This design changes are inspired by design of Mazda 3, which is visible especially on the inside. However the Mazda 6’s design is somehow upgraded compared to Mazda 3.

Exterior changes are less visible and less radical. Coupe-like body shape of the 2016 Mazda 6 attracts the attention of the model. Front end is slightly altered for 2016 model year. Headlights are swept back while front fascia is lowered.

The engines of the 2016 Mazda 6 are carried over from the previous model. Base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder which is capable to deliver 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. 2016 model year could also bring a diesel power unit, which is already available in European and Asian markets. It is a 2.2-liter engine empowered with 173 horsepower. Unlike most diesels, this power unit features great acceleration rates.

Engines are mated to either six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, depending on trim. Fuel economy rates for upcoming Mazda 6 are not available yet, but popular sedan is known as a good returner, when it comes to its efficiency.

In the segment it competes in, and with base price of the Mazda 6, its primary rivals come from European car producers, primarily Germans. Popular segment is filled with great performers, and luxury designed vehicles such as BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, VW Passat and Skoda Superb. If you are looking for a similar vehicle produced from popular non-European automakers, you can check Honda’s Accord, Ford Fusion or Nissan’s Altima.

2016 Mazda 6 price and release

According to latest rumors, Japanese car producer will launch its latest Mazda 6 during the first quarter of next year. Its price tag will not be essentially changed, compared to previous model, so we can expect it to start around $22,000.
