2016 Lexus ES release date, price

2016 Lexus ES comes refreshed for this model year. Its changes are mainly cosmetic, while the ES stays the same under it refreshed body. Its premiere happened at the  2015 Shanghai Auto Show, and it is already available at the US market. Both versions of the this great sedan, including ES 350 and ES 300h are available for the 2016 Lexus ES.

2016 Lexus ES DESIGN UPGRADES

Speaking about changes, exterior of the new ES has new front fascia. Its grille is spindle shaped with satin chrome trim. It is amended with LED headlights and sharply designed foglights which give it more aggressive look. Rear end features redesigned taillights with L-shaped elements and chrome rectangular exhaust pipes. Exterior design is additionally accentuated with big 17-inch wheels, and new colors. Completely four are added for this year, and include Autumn Shimmer, Nightfall Mica, Caviar, and Eminent White Pearl.

On the inside new Lexus ES comes with a new materials, new steering wheel, new shifter and new trim colors. Lexus Enform Service Connect is also part of the available features, together with Lexus Safety System+. For those who don’t know, this safety system includes pre-collision system, lane-departure alert, intelligent high-beam control, and adaptive cruise control.

2016 Lexus ES ENGINE AND MPG

Regular version of the model is paired with a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. It is packed with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which transfers the power to the front wheels. Fuel economy for the ES with this engine is rated at 21/31/24 mpg city/hwy/combined.

Hybrid version of the ES model combines 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine with Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system. Pair of electric motors substitutes the transmission. Combined output of the hybrid system of the new ES is rated at 200 hp. EPA rates for the 2016 ES 300h are 29/40/40 mpg city/hwy/combined.

Price of the model is already available, and it starts at $38,940 while the hybrid variant costs around $3,000 more, and starts at $41,860.

    Although a nicer redesigned vehicle, the Lexus ES350 and ES hybrid should have available all wheel drive (AWD).
