2016 Kia Sorento changes

Just recently Kia revealed pictures of 2016 Sorento which show us volume of this model year changes. 2016 Sorento crossover SUV will have different dimensions. It will be longer, wider and lower, which will provide both more interior space and better aerodynamics. The wheelbase is also extended which will affect handling and maneuverability of the vehicle.

Design of the 2016 Kia Sorento is inspired by Kia Cross GT concept, which was revealed last year, and resulted in more aggressive front end, with recognizable “tiger-nose” grille and swept-back headlights. On the rear end, new Sorento will feature roof-wrapped spoiler and straight LED taillights. Wheel will be offered in couple of sizes, while the biggest will be 19-inchers.

Inside, 2016 Kia Sorento is designed in a way to provide best possible functionality. Simplicity and convenience were the primary goal for Sorento’s interior designers. The center of the mounted-dash is big tough screen that manages the infotainment system.

Trim levels are the same, and 2016 Sorento will also be offered in five variants, as its predecessor. Trims include LX, LX V6, EX, SX and Limited, while the list of both standard and optional features is expanded for every trim, as well as the number of safety technologies.

2016 Kia Sorento engine specs and mpg

As the trim names hint, 2016 Kia Sorento comes with two power units, both paired with electronically controlled 6-speed automatic overdrive transmission with Sportmatic as only choice. Both front- (standard) and all-wheel drive (optional) are available.

Base engine is 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder capable to deliver 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. We do believe, however, that changes will affect the fuel consumption and that it will be slightly different than 20/27/23 mpg (FWD) and 19/25/22 mpg (AWD) which were the rates of the previous model.

Optional engine (and standard for some trims) is a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. Its previous fuel efficiency rates were 18/25/21 mpg (FWD) city/hwy/combined and 18/24/20 mpg (AWD). Exact info about fuel efficiency of 2016 Kia Sorento will be published as soon as Kia releases its rates.
