2016 Infiniti QX70

2016 Infiniti QX70 is the represent of the third generation of the mid-size luxury crossover SUV. As expected from the new generation, Infiniti prepared lots of improvements for the 2016 QX70. Infiniti officials listened the customer’s claims, and work hard in order to amend areas of critics. Due to the fact that QX70 has a long time to go before its reveal, it is unrewarding to speak precisely about upgrades. Some changes are, however, already known.

2016 Infiniti QX70 changes

Nissan’s design boss Shiro Nakamura revealed some details about changes we can expect from the latest generation. He indicated that the problem which many complained about, the space, will be solved. Aggressive and bold styling of this SUV was its strong point, while the lack of interior space was the main downside of this Infiniti model. The race for customers keeps all car producers on its toes, so disadvantages are changing quickly.

Any design details remain unknown, but the biggest changes are known even now. Great exterior styling is what separated this SUV from its competitors at the beginning, and it still is one of the best-looking SUVs on the market. 2016 Infiniti QX70 will have to sacrifice some of its uniqueness for the interior room, or this car producer may decide to add some extra inches to overall size, in order to achieve more space and save the extravagant exterior.

Already rich set of standards could be enhanced, but we believe that changes made on the inside will more likely be referred to styling more than feature enhancements.

Sunroof, leather seats, heated power front seats, an 11-speaker Bose sound system, two zone automatic A/C, a power rear liftgate, foglights, cruise control, a dash-mounted 7-inch info display and 18-inch alloy wheels are all standard on the previous QX70, which shows us how small is the gap for the broadening.

2016 Infiniti QX70 performance

Just recently Infiniti decided to drop optional V8 engine and leave QX70 with only one engine included into the offer. However, we believe that 2016 model year could bring at least one more power unit, either stronger petrol, or more economical diesel. For the moment, we can’t claim whether this idea will be realized, but Hybrid variant is somewhat certain.

Standard engine will be carried over, and 2016 Infiniti QX70 will be run by a 3.7-liter V6 engine with an output of 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. Standard rear-wheel drive as well as 7-speed automatic gearbox should remain unchanged. All-wheel drive will also be available. Fuel economy of the 2016 Infiniti QX70 should give the same average consumption as its predecessor, which is around 19-20 mpg, depending on the drivetrain.

Hybrid variant of the 2016 Infiniti QX70 should be packed with a 3.5-liter V6 slave engine combined with an electric motor. Combined output of these two should be around 354 horsepower.

2016 Infiniti QX70 competition

Closest rivals of the sporty SUV come from Europe, and include Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90. Until now, all these models were winning the battle of sufficient space on the inside, while new and improved 2016 Infiniti QX70 will be tough one to beat.

2016 Infiniti QX70 price and release

Starting price of the previous model was $45 850, while we do not expect new gen to record major price boost. Estimated base price will stay in range from $46 000 – $47 000, and we believe it won’t go over that price tag. However there is still enough time for some alterations and news, regarding both price and design of the 2016 Infiniti QX70 since its release is expected late on 2015, or perhaps even early 2016.

Even with a redesign and AWD,the best choice of tires is most important. Infiniti/Nissan will slap any good prices tires to save money instead of researched or tested results of the best tires for dry/rain/snow/corning/braking etc. On my Q50S AWD I changed out the noisy-snow slippery Dunlop Sport run flat DSST CTT with a set of better all weather-season traction and quieter {non run-flat} GOODYEAR EAGLE SPORT A/S. What a big difference in new ride/traction quality and smoothness with the same vehicle.
