2016 Honda Odyssey – Release date, photos, review

Currently in its fourth generation Honda’s minivan is one of the most popular models in its segment. However, the big redesign and new generation will probably start with 2017 model, so 2016 Honda Odyssey will come with modest alterations, which will hint upcoming changes. Odyssey went through mid-cycle refreshment for 2014 model year, and previous 2015 model was unchanged. This MPV is available in five trim levels, including LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and Touring Elite. Here are the most important specs of the 2016 Honda Odyssey:

Exterior of the minivan will stay unchanged for new model year. Honda will include some new paint choices, but besides that, exterior will have to wait for a proper redesign. Some of standard exterior features which will be available for the Honda Odyssey include rear privacy glass, 17-inch steel wheels, a rear spoiler and variable intermittent wipers. However, new model year could bring few extras, which were not available on the base trim for previous model, such as heated mirrors and power-sliding side doors.

Interior of the new Honda Odyssey is greatly equipped. This great minivan offers versatility and comfort, together with numerous tech and convenience features. Safety of the Odyssey is also on a high level, so people with big families can enjoy the long rides in their minivan. Some of the tech feature found on the base trim LX include 8-inch MID, Bluetooth connection (phone and audio), a backup camera, Voice Messaging Service and an audio system with 7 speakers, CD player, Pandora interface, an auxiliary audio input jack and a USB/iPod interface.

Upcoming changes for 2017 Honda Odyssey will probably influence the performance of the model, but, for the moment, Odyssey’s powertrain is the same. Its engine is a 3.5-liter V6 capable to deliver up to 248 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive system are standard.

Fuel economy of the 2016 Odyssey MPV will be the same as before, which means it will be able to deliver 19/28/22 mpg city/hwy/combined.

Some of its toughest rivals come from its homeland. First in line is Toyota’s Sienna, which offers pretty much same interior space and dimensions as Odyssey. Its second rivals also come from Japan – Nissan Quest. However, the 2016 Honda Odyssey will have to face some models from American brands, such as Chrysler Town & Country.

The release date of the 2016 model is expected during the late fall this year, although Honda didn’t reveal any official info which would indicate precise date. Pricing of the model will stay in the same range, with standard annual increase. This means we can expect 2016 Odyssey to start with price tag of $29,000 or slightly above that figure.
