2016 GMC Savana

2016 GMC Savana is currently into its fifth production generation, and it is a rear representative of a traditional full-size van with modernistic features, both inside and out. American vehicle producer has worked on Savana‘s constant upgrades for years, in order to keep its fresh and competitive, and it managed to keep it on the top position among other vehicles from its category. 2016 GMC Savana comes available in three versions, ass Savana Cargo, Savana Cutaway and Savana Passenger. Each of these three versions is further available in two or more versions, depending on choice you make.

2016 GMC Savana Passenger is available in two variants, as 2500 model and as 3500 model, with option for extended wheelbase for 3500 model. Both versions come in two trims, which include LS and LT variants. Key standard features found on the base LS trim include tire pressure and oil monitoring system, climate control, power locks and windows, rear-view camera, rear park-assist and StabiliTrak.

2016 GMC Savana Cutaway comes in 3500 and 4500 models. 3500 version is available with three different wheelbases, of 139”, 159”, or 177”, and 4500 version offers a wheelbase choice between 159” and 177”. Payload capacity goes from 7,248 lbs (3500) up to 9,156 lbs (4500).

2016 GMC Savana Cargo comes in 2500 and 3500 series, and both offer regular and extended wheelbase.

The main strong point when it comes to all versions of new GMC Savana is its versatility and functionality. It offers numerous choices and options, for each individual. From different seating capacity and arrangements through features to engines, cargo space and load capacity, whatever you need, some of Savana’s variants will offer it. Unlike you might expect from a van, it offers also great deal of entertainment and tech features, which is a great bonus to all its good sides.

Under the hood of 2016 Savana are placed completely five engines. 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Savanas, regardless the engine choice.

Vortec 4.8-liter V8 SFI engine is first in Savana’s Cargo model, with 285 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Second available choice is a Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI FlexFuel capable to deliver 342 hp and 373 lb-ft of torque. Third option is a Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI Gaseous which delivers 282 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Fourth option is diesel engine, Duramax 6.6L V8 Turbo Diesel, to be precise, with 260 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. Fifth and last is a Vortec 5.3L V8 VVT engine with 310 horsepower and 334 lb-ft of torque. V6 engine option is no longer available, although we will not say that this decision is final, since it would affect the fuel economy of the GMC’s full-size van, which is not a negligible segment.

Unlike other categories, full-size van segment is not so crowded. The closest rivals of Savana are Ford E-Series, Nissan NV and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo. However if you decide to opt for Mercedes-Benz, you will have to extract some extra coins, since its price tag is slightly higher than the rest of the crew.

The price will not be much different than the current one, but since the 2016 GMC Savana offers numerous options in its line-up, its prices differ. Passenger model starts around $32,000, Cargo around $29,500 and Cutaway around $28,500. Release is not expect before mid-2015, but GMC will not definitely wait for 2016 start, and it will release its 2016 Savana before winter 2015.
