GM’s plans for 2016 GMC Acadia

GM CEO Dan Akerson said that new, upcoming generations of their vehicles, will be much lighter. The plan of the company is to significantly reduce the weight of all models, which will be reflected in better fuel economy, as well as in other important segments. Their goal is to lose 15 percent of overall weight, compared to the current models. News which may come as a surprise, are that GM doesn’t plan to achieve this goal with standard measurements, such as usage of aluminum and carbon fiber, but will make a combination of high-strength steel, magnesium and aluminum. Whether this decision from GM came due to the fact that CAFE standards will be raised up to a 35.5 miles per gallon in 2016, or GM simply decided to upgrade, is not even important. What we are interested in is the fact that this corporation will allow us to drive lighter and economical vehicles, which is great.
