2016 Ford Ranger

2016 Ford Ranger was spotted on the U.S. streets, two times in one month, once covered in camouflage, and second time without it, which showed us what to expect from this model. This compact pickup truck was recently cut from the production. Its size slowly grew, and it stopped being the small truck as we used to, and close itself to the F-150. This dimensions change affected its sale, and Ford decided to end it. However, the demand and poor competition forced Ford to reconsider its decision.

2016 Ford Ranger changes

Big redesign prepared for this model year will include lots of changes.  2016 Ford Ranger will be smaller than before, in order to fit the US standards of a small pickup truck. It will also feature design changes. Front grill and fascia will be changed, while the headlights will be narrower. 2016 Ford Ranger for European market is smaller than the F-150 about 10 percent overall, but that is also one of the reasons it offers better fuel economy.

Inside, new Ranger will also be modified. It will come with better materials, and more modern design, which will answer to both practical and technology demands of the customers across America. Its towing capacity will be around 3 000 pounds, while its payload capacity goes up to 1 000 pounds, which are the rates that correspond its class.

Usage of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and light high-strength steel, will influence both performance and agility of the truck, and will also reduce the fuel consumption.

Offering 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, this engine could be optional solution for the upcoming Ranger.

According to some sources, Ford didn’t exclude diesel units from the consideration. In fact, the company leaders could easily decide to add a diesel option, following the trend of the popular car producers, and growing demand for the most efficient engines. 2016 Ford Ranger diesel engine could be a 3.2-liter I-5 Power Stroke, which could produce up to 197 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque.
