2016 Dodge Challenger changes

Since Dodge changed both front and rear end of the Challenger one year ago, for 2015 model year, it is very unlikely that American producer will make any changes on the exterior. However, in order to keep the model fresh, Dodge will include few more paint choices, as well as some lighting technology upgrades. With modified platform presented for last model year, this muscle car received additional interior space, without any radical change regarding its dimensions.

Inside, 2016 Dodge Challenger is all fresh and polished, and Dodge won’t have to change anything much. Its infotainment system was upgraded for 2015 model year and it now comes standard with larger screen. With additional power added, Dodge also revised safety features, by adding some extra and upgraded existing ones. Speedometer and tachometer are designed in retro style, 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system gives it just enough modern touch.

2016 Dodge Challenger engines

As performance vehicle, always the most interesting part of Challenger’s review is engine, or performance overall, and this model has a lot to offer. Starting with a base engine, which is a V6, Dodge offers two more V8 engines, and special V8 found under the hood of its   Challenger SRT HellCat, which always attracts the biggest attention.

Base engine is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 capable to deliver up to 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Optional engines are 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 375 hp and up to 410 pound-feet of torque, and 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that now offers 15 hp more than before (since last year) for a total output of 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. V6 unit comes exclusively mated to an 8-speed automatic, while V8 engine means that a 6-speed manual gearbox comes standard, and mentioned automatic optional.

2016 Challenger SRT HellCat will come with same powertrain as its predecessor, meaning that it will be powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that generates massive 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual or optional 8-speed automatic gearbox.

2016 Dodge Challenger price and release

Price of the 2016 model will not be increased, at least not drastically, which means we can expect $28,000 to be the base price tag of  2016 Dodge Challenger and $61,000 of the SRT HellCat version. These prices could go up for a couple of hundreds, but not more than $500, since there are no any major changes expected. However these prices are subject to changing if car manufacturer decides to make some last-minute changes. The release is not expected before fall 2015, but definitely during the second half, since 2015 model was released pretty late.
