2016 Chevy El Camino price, specs

2016 Chevy El Camino seems to be one of the most interesting vehicle news on the market. The fact that Chevrolet tends to make the comeback of the model caused a lot of fuss in the automotive worlds. The truth is that American automaker never specified which model will be returned, but reliable sources revealed that GM renewed its plate for the El Camino. 2016 Chevy El Camino most likely won’t be available for the US market, at least in first few years, but eventually we can expect it to make a big comeback. Chevy will probably base its decision on sales results of the model on other markets, as well as on demand on the US soil.

2016 Chevy El Camino – what to expect?

2016 Chevy El Camino will continue the tradition broken back in 1988, when it was discontinued. It will still be a UTE (“utility” or “coupé utility”) or car-based pickup truck as we all knew it before. The sales will firstly start in Australia were the demand for this type of vehicles is rising. Another option possible, when it comes to the El Camino return is the launch of brand new El Camino SS model, which would have similar shape as Camaro, with rear end designed as a pickup truck, with small bed.

What is so great about the El Camino is the fact that it looks just like the regular vehicle, but contains the bed which makes it beyond practical for people who need this kind of open storage space.  A version of the El Camino already exists in Australia, under the name Chevy Holden Ute, and Chevy announced to introduce the US version of the model, which we all hoped to be the El Camino.

2016 Chevy El Camino Engine specs

Under the hood of the new 2016 El Camino is speculated to be placed a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Its output rates should be around 281 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Another possibility, when it comes to the powertrain is the 6.0-liter V8 with 361 hp. Transmission choice will probably include 6-speed automatic transmission, while the delay of El Camino’s launch could affect the number of speeds the gearbox will contain.

2016 Chevy El Camino Rivals

It is hard to determine the main rivals for the 2016 Chevy El Camino. Majority of those, with which it battled with, ended their production cycle, and just like the El Camino were not expected to come back. Some of those include GMC Sprint / Caballero and Ford Ranchero. By the time Chevy releases its El Camino, one of these could also be revamped, so the battles started back in 60’s, 70’s and 80’s could be continued today.

2016 Chevy El Camino Price and release date

According to latest news, coming from GM, we could wait for a bit longer to see fully redesigned El Camino. By this time, we only have info that the model will not be launched this year, but there is no info regarding when it could be available. Pricing specs will be revealed later, but based on the similar Australian model, we can expect new El Camino to start at around $35,000.
