When it comes to powertrains, new Colorado offers three engines. Base power unit is a 2.5-liter direct injected 4-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. Buyers will have choice between 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, and between rear- or all-wheel drive.

Optional engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, which is combined a 6-speed automatic transmission with automatic grade braking and a tow/haul mode.

Long-announced diesel unit is a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel with 180 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, while transmission choices stay the same.
