 2016 Buick LaCrosse changes

2016 Buick LaCrosse will be built on a new platform. The old Epsilon 2 architecture is replaced with a GM’s new “E2XX” global platform. This switch is further developed in order to separate LaCrosse from Chevrolet Impala, and to differentiate it with extra features and more luxurious interior design.

Buick originally launched its LaCrosse back in 2004, and its second generation started with 2010 model. Since then, Buick didn’t change much on the full-size sedan. It had only one facelift, for 2013 model year. 2016 model year brings more coupe-like body shape, with panoramic panels on its roof. Side lines are elongated and more elegant. Inside new LaCrosse will have more space, but its overall dimensions are enlarged, but not drastically. The platform that underpins the 2016 Buick LaCrosse will be the base for the numerous mid-size and full-size vehicles from Buick’s line-up.

2016 Buick LaCrosse drivetrain

Little things is known and revealed about the powertrain of the Buick’s 2016 LaCrosse. According to latest info, Buick will probably keep its current engine – 3.6-liter V6 which is capable to deliver 304 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. Whether the American producer will upgrade the engine, or add it some boosts remains unknown.

Rumors on the other side indicate that new LaCrosse could offer another, smaller engine, probably a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder. New platform will not change the drive system, so front-wheel drive remains standard. New platform also brings the weight reduction, which was also announced by Buick’s officials, so we can expect improvement in fuel economy.

2016 Buick LaCrosse price, release, competition

Top rivals for the redesigned 2016 Buick LaCrosse are Lexus ES 350, Lincoln MKS and Volvo S60, while the release date of the next generation LaCrosse will probably happen late 2015, or early on 2016, so we still have plenty of time until its arrival. Pricing specs of the latest LaCrosse are not released, but we believe that will be soon, as we approach to its reveal. We expect the base price to be around $34,000-$35,000.
