Favorite brand of the most celebs worldwide, BMW, has recently released updates version of its 6 Series. New model year brought a mid-cycle facelift, refreshining the model’s design and performance specs. 2016 BMW 6 Series had its debut the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where we had a chance to see what exactly is new for this model. Two-door Coupe, two-door Convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe models continue to make the range of the 2016 BMW 6 Series, alongside with sporty M6 version.

This time German brand didn’t surprise us much. As it usually goes with its facelifts, changes are minor, and practically hard to notice. Majority of noticeable changes is made under the hood, enhancing the performance specs of the model series. On the outside, 2016 BMW 6 Series gained slightly redesigned LED headlights and taillights. Front grille is also restyled, with one bar less than before. Front bumper feature new design of the air intakes, and repositioned fog lights. Side mirror caps have been reshaped and now offer more aerodynamic design. Other than these alterations, BMW added new wheels design for the new 6 Series.

Interior changes are mainly cosmetic. 2016 BMW 6 Series will get new trim, high-gloss black one, additionally enhanced with chrome surrounds for the iDrive display. Other than that, new 6 Series has more LED interior lighting than before, and has received a new interior material- Fineline Brown wood. Features don’t lack also for the new 6 Series. Luxury of the model is not only visible in materials and layout but also in standard features it comes with. Some of them are navigation system, few BMW online services, great stereo system and others.

Completely two engines will be available under the hood of the 2016 BMW 6 Series, if we extract the M6 model. Those engines include turbocharged 3.0-liter in-line 6 which gained some power boost and now delivers 315 horsepower (15 hp more than before). Second engine available is a turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 capable to deliver up to 445 hp.

The power of the engine is transmitted to rear wheels via 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with Launch Control. All models beside M6 can opt for the xDrive all-wheel drive as well. Models from the entire 6 Series have 155 mph top speed.

Under the hood of the 2016 BMW M6 is placed a a turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, but for this version it pumps out 560 horsepower. If the customers opt for the Competition Package, the model could generate up to 575 hp. Rear-wheel drive is only option, and it is combined with a 7-speed M-DCT dual-clutch with Launch Control.

2016 BMW 6 Series is definitely one of the top vehicles from its category. As such it is compared with some other vehicle from its range. Its closest rivals are Jaguar F-Type, Maserati Gran Turismo, and , of course Porsche 911.

2016 BMW 6 Series price and release date

Even though BMW already presented the model to wider public, its sales will not start this year. In fact, according to various sources, the model’s release date is set for the second quarter of next, 2016 year. Prices will be slightly higher, and it will start just under $77,000. However, its wide price range goes even up to $122,000.
