Not so long time ago, Audi released the first edition of its TT roadster. Up until now, it went through two generations, and 2016 Audi TT will mark the beginning of the third one. It will feature significant changes in its design, and upgrade of its power. German producer is already known for its high quality vehicles, so the great look and performance of the first model of the third generation is no surprise, but rather expected course of events.

2016 model year will bring several differences in TT’s appearance, but its dimensions will stay the same. Although the new model will be the same size as predecessor, it will be much lighter. According to Audi, new TT will weight around 120 pounds less than the current version. Germans achieved this weight saving with extensive usage of aluminum (roof, hood, fenders, doors and trunk lid). The wheelbase will be longer than it is now and the center of gravity will be lower, which will provide better handling.

Interior changes made on the 2016 Audi TT will include few upgrades. First of all, the upcoming model will offer more luggage space than its predecessor for about 0.5 cubic feet. The materials and overall appearance of the model will be enhanced together with multimedia system with 12.3-inch screen.

Under the hood of the new Audi TT customers will be able to choose between two options. First engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. This engine will be able to deliver up to 230 horsepower, which will be transmitted to front wheels. Officials from the German giant said that is acceleration time will be 6 seconds.

Second power option is the same engine, with 310 horsepower, which will empower the 2016 Audi TTS version. The power of the engine will be transmitted to all-four wheels (Quattro system), and its acceleration time should be 4.7 seconds.

Transmission choices are the same for both options and include 6-speed manual and 6-speed “S tronic” (automatic with paddle-shifters).

Being a high-performance car that it is, 2016 Audi TT will face some rivals which are among the best in its class. As expected, its primary competitors are from its homeland. Those are Porsche Boxster, Porsche Cayman and BMW Z4.

Unlike majority of 2016 models, Audi TT price is already revealed. Although its manufacturers didn’t precise it, and the real figures will be revealed as we approach to its release, according to them we can expect starting price to be somewhere around $40,000. However more powerful version TTS will probably start around $52,000. The release of the model is expected early on this year, in next couple of months, while its sales should start shortly after that.
