2016 Audi Q7 Redesign, interior and exterior

There is just couple of weeks before 2016 Audi Q7 reveal, and information we gather so far indicate that this will be the biggest makeover in this SUV history. The Q3 should follow the release of the Q7, but with significantly smaller amount of changes. Although German producer didn’t reveal any photos of the redesigned full-size SUV, according to latest spy shots, we can see the intensity of alterations. Exterior changes will be bigger than we might expect from Audi, while interior matches the exterior with high intensity changes.

Exterior, as we mentioned was remodeled. Unlike previous version, new Q7 has sharper body lines, and more aggressive appearance. Beside edgy curves, overall impression when you look at the exterior is that it looks slimmer than earlier. 2016 Audi Q7 is built on a Volkswagen’s new-generation MLB Evo platform, which is lighter than its previous version. According to some sources, Audi will probably reduce the weight of its Q7 by up to 800 lbs, which is stunning news for other parameters that may be influenced by this.  The platform is built out of mixed materials, in order to provide maximal support with minimal weight. Styling touches you will notice instantly on the exterior of Audi Q7 include revised hexagonal grill which is larger than before. Fog lights are now smaller than before, headlights and taillights all have LED lighting technology, while rear-side roof-mounted spoiler is slightly redesigned as well.

Thanks to spy photos that emerged online we had a chance to see glimpse of the new interior. 2016 Audi Q7 will have significantly different interior than its predecessor. Steering wheel is fully redesigned, bigger and stand-alone touchscreen display, as well as analogue gauges, which could be made in digital version as well.

Under the hood of all Q7 variants will be placed V6 and V8 gasoline and diesel power units. When it comes to gasoline engine, new Q7 will have 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter TFSI engines.

Audi will also offer plug-in hybrid variant of Audi ‘s 2016 Q7, which will combine 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine with electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. Combined output of the hybrid variant Q7 will be around 373 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Diesel units that will be available will include two versions. 3.0-liter V-6 TDI is first one and it delivers around 265 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Stronger V8 diesel will be able to produce around 450 horsepower.

BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and Acura MDX are closest competitors of the Q7. However new generation of the Q7 will shake SUV market, and its rivals’ positions in it. German engineers and designer worked hard in order to correct the biggest flaws and to fulfill the demands of the markets around the globe.

2016 Audi Q7 price and release

Audi will officially present its second generation Q7 SUV at Detroit Auto Show in January next year, 2015. Couple of months later, probably during the summer 2016 Audi Q7 will available for sale. Price is not officially published, but it should cost around $50,000, with possibility for some smaller deviations.
