2016 Audi A4

2016 Audi A4 will be launched later than expected. This premium mid-size sedan supposed to be launched late this year or early on next, but this schedule has been changed, due to some “lat-minute” changes made on the model. Recently 2016 model Audi A4 test mule was spotted on the streets of Germany, and according to this pictures, overall body shape remain the same, while German automaker decided to make majority of its changes on the inside. Latest version of this model will mark the end of the current and beginning of the next generation, and as such, will suffer some extensive changes.

First in line of changes is the platform of the 2016 Audi A4. Audi decided to switch to MLB Evo architecture, which will ensure the weight loss of approximately 100 pounds. Weight loss will affect the fuel economy as well as handling of the vehicle. Exterior changes are hard to itemize since the rumors are few, and the spy shots didn’t reveal much. However, both ends of the vehicle will be refreshed. Front grill, headlights and bumpers will be revised, while rear end will also feature taillight reshape.

Interior changes are to the same extent visual and technological. Beside upgrades when it comes to the equipment of the 2016 Audi A4, and materials enhancements, new A4 will feature some dash-design changes. Its infotainment screen is moved, and instead of the center of the dash, it is now placed on its top, just like in the current A6.

2016 Audi A4 will probably be available in all variants known, meaning that this model will be presented and launched as an A4 Avant (wagon), A4 Allroad crossover, S4, RS4 and, most likely, hybrid variant too.

It is hard to make assumptions about the engine of the next A4, primarily because German automakers always make an array of power units for their models. 2016 A4 model will be packed with different versions, depending on the markets.

US version of 2016 Audi A4 will probably come with carried over base engine – 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 while its output of 220 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, could be additionally enhanced.

Optional engine could be a 3.0L TFSI Supercharged DOHC V-6 with 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines will come either with front- or all-wheel drive modes, while transmission will probably be carried over, which means customer will have choice between CVT, 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic gearboxes, depending on drivetrains and personal preferences.

German automaker’s biggest competitors are its compatriots, so for 2016 Audi A4 the closest rivals come from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. BMW’s 3-series and Merc’s C-Class models are in the same range as A4, so those three vehicles are the best alternatives to one another. From US car producers we can single out Cadillac CTS and Infiniti Q50.

Starting price will feature an increase compared to last year’s $35,500 price tag, but not more than $2,000, due to competitive segment and overall automotive market. According to the latest info, 2016 A4 will be released late on next, 2015 year, as a 2016 model.
