2015 MINI Cooper Countryman

As the biggest one in the Cooper family Countryman model is also the only one from this crowd that offers all-wheel-drive. Although 2015 MINI Cooper Countryman received significant upgrades, its alterations are not as drastic as changes on MINI Cooper Hardtop. New model year brought new styling cues, but also refined interior and improved safety features.

Although this model is known as the largest MINI Cooper, it still is “mini” compared to other utility vehicles. This giant among Coopers got new grill that is decorated with some chrome hints on certain trims. Beside new grill, it now has new 17-inch alloy wheel designs and LED fog lights. Small but visible additions include new color palette (including Starlight Blue, Midnight Gray, and Jungle Green) which appearance is accentuated by glossy piano black touches. These small details enhanced already great look of the MINI Cooper Countryman and made it more attractive. Inside there is enough room to accommodate up to five passengers and with new added features everyone will enjoy the drive in this mini machine. Its high equipment includes MINI Connected infotainment system, which a novelty for this model year. Safety is also upgraded, so you will find tire pressure sensor, daytime running lights and parking assist as part of your equipment. Cargo space offered for this crossover is 42.2 cubic feet, with rear seats folded down, which pretty amazing for a MINI.

The crossover’s line -up is carried over from its forerunner, and 2015 MINI Cooper Countryman still comes with three engine variations. Base engine is 1.6-liter four-cylinder, but with different boosts and outputs. Naturally aspired, this engine produces 121 horsepower, turbocharged 181 horsepower, while special version for John Cooper Works model offers 211 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive and six-speed manual transmission is standard on all models, while AWD and 6-speed automatic are available as optional. Depending on engine choice, you will get different mpg rates. If you opt for base variant 28/35 mpg city/hwy, while with optional automatic gear box you will get scores at 25/30 mpg. With turbocharged engine, FWD and manual transmission Cooper S Countryman provides 26/32 mpg city/hwy, and with transmission change to automatic numbers are 25/32 mpg. AWD Cooper S Countryman and John Cooper Works are rated the same at 25/31 mpg with manual and 23/30 mpg with automatic transmission.

The closes competitor for this great small SUV is definitely Fiat 500L, due to the fact that these two have a lot in common. But if we wanted to expand the list of rivals for 2015 MINI Cooper Countryman we could mention Ford Focus Hatchback, Mazda3 and Nissan Juke as potential opponents in battle for sales and customers.

This crossover had its world premiere at the 2014 New York Auto Show, and gained a lot of sympathies.  Exact pricing for the 2015 MINI Cooper Countryman is not published yet, but there will not be significant increase regarding the price tag. Previous model base price was $22 895 and it is expected that new model will remain close to that figure.
